Be warned this is very VERY long and contains spoilers for the book I also didn't go in order for the book. If you do or don't read this journal at least read the book it is so awsome.
When I first heard the song I got addicted to it right away and as I was listening to it I heard the book title "Lord of the Flies" after listening to the song a bazillion more times I really REALLY wanted to read the book to see what it was about and if the song was relevant to what the book said. So, I read the book and I loved it! I can't even describe all of the feelings that I went through while reading it. I could probably go on and on about this amazing book. This is just how I interpret the book and the song I'm probably not anywhere near close to the actual meaning.
"Show me how to lie, you're getting better all the time and turning all against one is an art thats hard to teach. Another clever word sets off an ususpecting herd and as you step back into line a mob jumps to their feet."
I think their talking about Jack. Lying is an art and he gets better at it all through the book. How he slowly turns almost everyone against Ralph, and how he convinces everyone that even though they all know and he knows that what they're doing is wrong, he makes it seem right.
"Now dance f*cker, dance. Man he never had a chance, and no one really knew it was really only you."
It might be describing how Jack constatnly picked on Piggy, and would never listen to him, but Piggy was really one of the people who he should've really listened to.
"And now you steal away. Take him out today. Nice work you did you're gonna go far kid."
When they (Ralph, Jack, and Simon) go out exploring the island they find a piglet stuck in the creepers and they try to kill it but they don't have the heart to and Jack's mad at himself adn says(this isn't exactly what he says) "Next time! Next time I'll kill it. Next time I swear I'll het him! Next time. Next time... I'll...I'll"
"With a thousand lies and a good disguise, hit him right between the eyes, hit him right between the eyes. When you walk away nothing more to say, see the lightning in your eyes see them running for their lives."
I think it would be like, 'hit him where it hurts' and at one point its the rules, do not speak out of turn because we want to hear everyone's ideas because they might have a really good idea that can make living here easier on us. And Jack's all 'shut up, your ideas stupid no one wants to listen to you, shut up' which he gets a bit of a scalding for, but you can still feel his defiance.
"Slowly out of line and drifting closer in your sights, so play it out I'm wide awake. It's a scene about me. There's something in your way and now someone is gonna pay, and if you can't get what you want then it's all because of me."
This is most likely from Ralphs point of view. He said that they could hunt as much as they want but Jack had to leave four or five of his chior behind so that they could tend the fire. Ralph's logic, no smoke, no rescue. And he does get onto him a little bit but he never say's 'You can't hunt anymore' he's like, "Yeah, hunting is important, but we need fire. No fire, no smoke, no rescue. Besides you kind of said that you'd hunt AND take care of the fire. You kind of have to take care of both of the responsibilities." (I think) Which makes Jack angry and sets things in motion. Now he's really watching Ralph and friction keeps building. How when they killed their first pig they did a little war 'dance' where someone was the pig and how they killed it. In the end if Ralph hadn't run it probably would've been him. An last, Jack really wants to be chief but Ralph is in the way of that, he want's to hunt and quench his thrist for blood but Ralph wants him to do other things along with hunting.
"Now dance f*cker dance, I never had a chance and no one really knew it was really only you."
Fastforward to Castle Rock, Ralph and Jack have a fight with 'spears' and the book describes it as a dance, where Jack gets fed up with Ralph and throws his 'spear' with intent to kill him but it doesn't it only sticks in a little bit and bounces of him. He hightails it and hides.
"And now you'll lead the way. Show the light of day. Nice work you did, you're gonna go far kid. Trust decieved."
Possibly about how Jack takes over everything saying 'everything's all right because I'll kill whatever's out there, I'm gonna get us through this with or without Ralph.' And everyone goes along with it because he's got the meat. Ralph trusted him but he overthrew him.
"With a thousand lies and a good disguise, hit him right between the eyes, hit him right between the eyes. When you walk away nothing more to say, see the lightning in your eyes see them running for there lives."
Rewind to the feast when Jack takes over. One night after he takes over Jack is faced with a problem, they've got all this meat but they can't cook it. So, he decides to steal fire from Ralph, Piggy and Samneric. (Sam and Eric but they do everything together so they share the same title and where the only 'bigguns' who didn't join up with jack) It's in the middle of the night when they ransack the shelters. It's kind of creepy because they're going '

iggy, Piggy where are you. We want you Piggy. Ralph can't see but he finds someone in the dark and punches them in the face untill he feels their face was wet and slippery. He stops for a minute and gets kneed really hard between his legs. Piggy's screaming and Jack's crew leaves. After that they all settle down and Eric says "You get one really good?" Ralph says "Yeah, I got him good in his face, I'd like to see them try to mess with us again." Eric says "Yeah, I got one of them really good too, got him right in the pills." I'd like to see him mess with us again" And they have no idea that they were fighting with each other, so that was some good comic relief. Then Piggy's all "They took my glasses." Ralph freaks out. No glasses, no fire. No fire, no smoke. No smoke, no rescue. And he says to ralph I'm not going to ask for my glasses back for the fire, or because I can't see, but because it's the right thing to do. And you see that Piggy's had enough and finall works up the courage and resolve to stand up to Jack. And he tells himself that he'll go right up to him demand for his glasses and walk away with pride knowing that he conqured his fear and did something for himself. Then once they(Ralph Piggy Samneric) get to Castle Rock they start throwing rocks at him that miss on purpose, and Ralph speaks up and Jack gets angry goes down there they fight. Piggy's clinging to a rock going I can't see without my specks! and Roger(one of the choir I think) gets excited and leans on the lever that kept the giant rock from tumbling over the edge of the cliff. The rock falls, bounces and hits Piggy. He flies in the air and lands on a rock where his head is smashed open and all of his brain matter and blood spills out.
"Now dance f*cker dance. He never had a chance and no one really knew it was really only you. So, dance f*cker dance. He never had a chance and no one really knew it was really only you.
Rewind to When he overthrer Ralph. It might be describing how Jack manipulated everyone, or when they where on the beach, how Jack and the chior did their war 'dance' where they put some kid in the middle and pretended to beat them like the pig they hunted and killed. Well they all got really excited and whent I'd say kind of crazy because at the feast they cruelly killed Simon in a crazed state while doing the 'dance' when all simon was trying to do was tell them what the 'beast' really was. When they killed Simon, I felt like someone ripped my heart out of my chest, threw it on the ground, and stomped on it untill it was a bunch of mushy tissue and blood. I felt so cold and so shocked goosebumps rand up and down my arms and I really did feel a cold numbness inside of me from shock. It's so weird because I really am sad that Simon dies because he was very endearing to me, but at the same time I can't seem to make myself cry.
"With a thousand lies and a good disguise, hit him right between the eyes, hit him right between they eyes. When you walk away nothing more to say, see the lightning in your eyes see them running for their lives."
Still on the beach. When Simon comes out of the jungle screaming they all freak out thinking he's the beast, and they kill him. Jack is proud of it. He and everyone else that was there saw him and his choir and other people kill the 'beast'. And that's how he gets everyone on his side and now he is so proud of himself because he's the leader now not Ralph. After that they all scatter because what they think is the beast scared them.
"Clever alibis, Lord of the Flies. Hit him right between the eyes, hit him right between the eyes. When you walk away nothing more to say, see the lightning in your eyes see them running for their lives."
Simon was really dehydrated before he dozed off because this pig's head (the Lord of the Flies) impailed on a stick was telling him 'you know what the beast is go find it'. He dozed off and he woke up even more dehydrated, and what's worse he goes and climbs a mountain which dehydrates him even more and he finds out the 'beast' was just a dead parachuter. So he's super dehydrated now and he can barely stand and walk, it's getting dark and he sees that the fire is bigger on the other side of the island, he thinks they moved camp. So somehow he makes it down the mountain trying to tell them that there is no 'beast' its just a dead man. But they all freak out because he's dehydrated and stumbling and hallucinating and screaming and they kill him. And they really think they killed the beast (some of them may know they just murdered someone. idk either or). Then the wind pickes up and the parachuter is loosed and flies over them and they all freak out and the parachuter falls into the sea. The tide comes in and soon Simon is washed away.
It is so easy for people to fear the unknown but what they should've feared most was each other.
